IVELA manufactures luminaires for the OEM and technical side of the lighting industry. The products are manufactured entirely at the company's headquarters near Milan. The products are customised to the needs of end customers and are intended for indoor and outdoor lighting.

IALUX is a division of IVELA specialising in producing naval-specific LED luminaires and lighting design services for this sector.

ARIA is a new division of IVELA dedicated to the production and marketing of minimalist lighting solutions for the architectural sector in direct dialogue with planners and lighting designers

For managing IVELA's large amount of data and digital assets, a solution completely based on OIM was proposed, with integration towards a DAM capable of managing all file types used by Ivela (images, videos, Adobe Indesign layouts, dwg).

Once the hurdles of product data retrieval (various sources to be managed) and asset cataloguing have been overcome, the data-model setup can send the data and assets to the layout software via a third-party plug-in for the creation of all the printable material in the languages of all the foreign markets in which Ivela operates.

Thanks to the structuring of product data by line, it was also a plus to be able to quickly produce all ARIA-related material.

Grazie alla strutturazione dei dati di prodotti per linea, è stato un plus riuscire a produrre velocemente anche tutto il materiale relativo ad ARIA.

Ivela needed to centralise the management of information and assets related to products and promotional publications (collection and organisation of data, consolidation of information retrieved from different sources, management of multilingual translations of information). In addition to management, a second and no less important aspect was to create flows for sharing all material between internal departments, especially with the sales force.

Organising data and creating workflows for the approval of assets and data naturally resulted in simplifying and increasing the efficiency of production flows of printable documentation.

Oltre alla gestione, un secondo aspetto non meno importante era quello di creare dei flussi di condivisione di tutto il materiale fra i reparti interni, in particolare con la forza vendita.

Semplificare ed aumentare l’efficienza dei flussi di produzione della documentazione stampabile sono state naturali conseguenze dell’organizzazione dei dati e della creazione di workflow di approvazione degli asset e dei dati stessi.

Dopo aver proceduto al popolamento del DAM (processo delicato in cui tutto il file system è stato importato mantenendo la categorizzazione dei prodotti e il loro tagging) si è passati alla creazione del data-model di prodotto. Durante la configurazione sono state definiti i ruoli e i gruppi utenti e disegnate tutte le interfacce di gestione secondo i permessi relativi ad ogni utente.

During the configuration phase, user roles and groups were defined, and all management interfaces were designed according to each user's permissions.

Once the data-model definition phase was completed, we moved on to the database population phase. Before proceeding with the production of the catalogues, it was necessary to reconcile the products with the relative assets in the DAM.

The last part of the project, which is still being evaluated about calculating the time saved, concerns the layout of the printable materials. Thanks to the integration between OIM and Adobe Indesign, the risk of errors on the page is reduced, resulting from the most common copy/paste methods and the production and control time of the pages produced.

Realizzata grazie all’integrazione fra OIM e Adobe Indesign, riduce il rischio di errori in pagina, frutto delle più comuni modalità di copia/incolla, e il tempo di produzione e di controllo delle pagine prodotte.

Non sono ancora disponibili dati sul risparmio di tempo di produzione che la nuova modalità ha portato. When I saw the OIM presentation, I knew immediately that this would be a huge opportunity for our company.

We have been working on the platform for a few months now, and the results are starting to show that the workflow has improved considerably, and the actions of individual users can be monitored for greater control of production and technical data. DAM is flexible and user-friendly. This tool now has a well-structured archive and can reach product assets in a single structure. A considerable leap forward!

The integration of EasyCatalog will enable us to reduce the publication time of technical data and eliminate the risk of errors.
