The law regulating digital accessibility in Italy is the "Stanca Law" 4/2004.
The Republic recognizes and protects the right of every person to access all sources of information and related services, including those articulated through computer and telematic tools.
Accessibility is defined as the ability of information systems to deliver services and provide information usable, without discrimination, even by those who due to disabilities require assistive technologies or special configurations.
As of June 28, 2025, the European Directive European Accessibility Act (EAA), transposed by Italy through Legislative Decree 82/2022, will come into force. This legislation extends the digital accessibility obligation not only to public administrations, but also to private companies. Only microenterprises (companies with fewer than 10 employees and annual turnover of less than 2 million euros) are excluded.
Eye-Able is dedicated to helping organizations create accessible digital environments for all users.
We are a leading digital accessibility company in Europe, envisioning an inclusive online world in which websites are universally usable for all people, regardless of ability. Our goal is to set the standard for accessibility and promote its integration as a fundamental aspect of digital design.
- Companies that fail to ensure accessibility of their services may face fines of up to 5 percent of turnover.
- Risk of legal action and reputational damage: reports from users with disabilities could lead to litigation and loss of public trust.
- Withdrawal of the product from the market, blackout of the service, or withdrawal of the app from the store.
