Pimcore releases Pimcore X

Improved performance and new enterprise features

Salzburg, May 11, 2021 – Today, the Austrian software company Pimcore releases Pimcore X, the latest version of the world's most popular Open Source platform for integrated data and experience management. With this significantly more powerful version, the product has received new features, boasts improved performance, and includes new interfaces to marketplaces such as Amazon and eBay for automated workflows.

Open Source benefits complemented by optional Enterprise Subscription

Pimcore X gives its customers the choice: Along with the new feature update, all the familiar and free Pimcore features were kept. The update also offers an optional, paid Enterprise Subscription, which contains additional functions such as easier syndication of product data or automatic translation of content. The Pimcore Enterprise Subscription also offers companies additional legal security and access to consulting services such as Service Level Agreement (SLA) support, customer access consulting and Long-Term Support (LTS) packages.
 

The new functions briefly:

• Easy data import – no coding required: Pimcore X takes a low-code approach to PIM and MDM. The new Pimcore Data Importer accelerates data exchange and adds comprehensive import functions to the Pimcore Datahub. For example, it facilitates the import of data from external sources and the mapping of this data without having to write a single line of code.
• Improved collaboration with partners in PIM and DAM: To ensure that external or subsidiary companies also have access to relevant data, the new Pimcore Experience Portals allow content to be shared with and worked on by partners outside the company's organization. These portals can be set up quickly and conveniently, and they are fully configurable, for instance, by adding rights and roles within the content management system.
• Integrations for Amazon, eBay, Adobe Creative Cloud, and Microsoft Office with the Enterprise Subscription: Pimcore natively integrates with Productsup to enable brands and retailers to publish product data on over 2,500 digital sales channels, including Amazon and eBay. A new DAM integration with CI HUB allows organizations to seamlessly access images, video and content within Adobe's Creative Cloud and Microsoft Office. A new standard interface to Translations.com provides automated translation workflows for managing multilingual content.
• New Perspective Editor: To help different groups better understand and customize the data they share, Pimcore has created a new Perspective Editor. It enables custom views and perspectives for individual user groups in a variable user interface – again, without the need for any coding and delivered in an easy-to-use format.
• Easier deployment in the cloud: By massively simplifying the configuration of object storages such as Amazon S3 and Content Delivery Networks (CDN), Pimcore X is much easier to install in cloud environments. Deploying Pimcore applications has also been drastically simplified, as changes to the data model are now much easier to integrate with CI/CD pipelines.

Open Source technology for better performance and efficient customizing 

For Pimcore X, the technological foundation of the platform has been completely renewed. Symfony 5, PHP 8 and ExtJS 7 provide faster performance and leaner underpinnings. Pimcore is now completely based on the leading and fastest PHP framework, Symfony 5. The clean source code, improved documentation and many new features and coding standards of this framework provide a more efficient working environment for developers and make programming Pimcore solutions much easier.
 

Smooth update to Pimcore X

To ensure a smooth transition to the new Pimcore X version, the existing version must first be updated to Pimcore 6.9. A subsequent upgrade to Pimcore X can then be performed as per the instructions given. Alternatively, Pimcore provides a long-term support package for extending the lifetime of older versions.
