GMDE Academy – one year on

A year ago, GMDE launched the GMDE Academy project in collaboration with the Fondazione Et Labora association. The project consists of a structured programme of training hours, on-the-job training tailored to the company's needs, and actual work experience, in which four young people were introduced to the world of work according to their aptitudes and desires.

During the year, the employees were gradually able to take part in group projects, contributing their skills. The projects spanned the three markets (printing, publishing and industry) served by GMDE. They received numerous compliments, including from customers, for the work they did and the projects they completed with the support of senior members of the GMDE team. 

At the final exam, held at the Foundation's headquarters, they gave their testimonials on both their experience at GMDE and the Academy project. The votes received confirmed, on the one hand, GMDE's ability to develop new talent within the company and, on the other, the excellent choice made in selecting candidates to participate in the GMDE Academy.

"Coming from a long period of inactivity in the IT field, I decided to enrol in the Academy because I was looking for something that would help me first to refresh the knowledge I had learned at school and then to build on it. Although I was hesitant at first about the duration of the Academy, a year on I have to change my mind, as I achieved my goals in the first part of the year and the remaining months allowed me to gradually integrate into the company."

The Academy gave me the opportunity to learn first-hand about the different facets of a sector that has always intrigued and fascinated me. I had the chance to learn and gain experience at the same time. For me, the Academy was an opportunity to change fields and start a new professional experience in a completely new area. Despite having no experience in this sector, I was able to learn and put what I had been taught to good use, proving that I was capable of performing the various tasks assigned to me. Throughout the process, I was able to count on the help of more experienced colleagues who helped me improve."
